![]() | In the paper and corrugated board production, paper reels are received, stored and retrieved selectively. These reels differ in quality but cannot be easily distinguished visually. | ![]() |
For an efficient operation and to avoid wrong paper deliveries to the production with unwanted and time consuming reel changes, the position of the raw material must be updated in the reel inventory management. The ERP / forklift guidance system can then assign transport jobs with precise target coordinates for the next reel to be retrieved.
LPR sensors on cranes and transport vehicles
On buildings, fences, columns or lightpoles, transponders can be installed as reference marks with approx 400 m range. A base station on the transport vehicle or crane computes the current position and orientation.
At the time of picking up or unloading a paper reel, the reel ´s position is provided in real-time to the warehouse management system. For commissioning or shipping, any reel picked up by a forklift is automatically identified due to its storage position. Scanning of a barcode or RFID is no longer required.
Inventory data is constantly up-to-date, avoiding any efforts for further inventory taking.
Storage areas can be any size, indoor and/or outdoor. Ambient conditions do not affect LPR position readings.
