Press release: Symeo GmbH celebrates its 10-year anniversaryA decade of wireless solutions for industry
Neubiberg (Germany), May 20, 2015 - Symeo GmbH, headquartered in Neubiberg/Munich, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Founded in 2005 as a spin-off of Siemens AG, over the past decade the company has evolved into a leading international sensor and GNSS expert whose products are used in a wide range of industrial applications around the world. Scores of customers in the metals, container terminal, bulk materials and regional/long-distance rail industries, as well as manufacturers of cranes and commercial vehicles, utilize Symeo's robust radio- and GNSS-based systems as the basis for precise position detection, distance measurement, collision avoidance and telemetry applications. This allows them to design and implement efficient and safe production, logistics and automation processes.
With sales growing at an annual pace of 10 to 20 percent, Symeo GmbH is taking a proud look back at its successful 10-year history. In industries such as steel making, bus and rail, container terminals, energy and bulk materials, Symeo's radar- and satellite-based solutions enable customers around the world to perform highly-precise distance measurements over short and long distances, detect the position of cranes and vehicles down to the centimeter and carry out reliable data capture and transmission.
For co-founder and managing director Dirk Brunnengräber, the company's success lies in the high quality of its products and the passion of its employees. "Symeo's path to success would not have been possible without the engagement of each employee. For us it was and still is important that we work closely with our customers and serve as a reliable and flexible partner to address their needs. The customer and the customer's interests are the focus of our activities. That applied 10 years ago, still applies today and will continue to apply in the future."
Robust wireless system as basis for success
The origin of Symeo's history can be traced back to the LPR® positioning technology, a patented wireless system designed for distance measurements and position detection, which was initially deployed in the German steel industry. Since it was designed with features that meet the needs of customers in this market - it operates precisely in harsh environments where dirt, dust and vibrations are common and requires no maintenance - the LPR® radar-based solution was able to establish itself as a viable international competitor to laser and encoder alternatives. It wasn't long before other segments outside of the steel making industry, such as bulk material handling, were taking advantage of the benefits this robust radar system has to offer.
Over the years the company broadened its expertise and began to specialize in highly-precise positioning technologies using satellite-based systems (GNSS: Global Navigation Satellite Systems: GPS, Galileo and Glonass) and reliable telemetry systems.
New subsidiaries in North America and Asia
Today, Symeo GmbH offers a comprehensive range of on-site technical consulting, product approval/certification as well as project management services. Given the on-going internationalization and the deployment of Symeo systems around the world, the company is planning to create subsidiaries in North America and Asia in the near future.
