LPR®-SAT: combined (D-)GNSS and LPR® position detection, for indoor and outdoor applications
LPR®-SAT is a universal receiver designed for the 2D positioning of vehicles and cranes. Based on a combination of GNSS and LPR® technology, Symeo's LPR®-SAT solution offers extremely accurate vehicle positioning and detection with a high level of reliability and availability even in difficult environments.
Ensuring a high level of accuracy requires supplying a GPS correction signal generated by a Symeo D-GNSS reference station installed at a fixed location. LPR®-2D positioning requires the installation of LPR® transponders at a fixed location.
Typical applications include the positioning of free-ranging vehicles operating at container terminals.

LPR®-SAT is a receiver unit for 2D positioning that relies on a combination of satellite-based GNSS and radar-based LPR® technology. Thanks to separately installed antennas, this Symeo product can determine the position and orientation of objects with a high level of accuracy. The unit can be mounted on the roof of the vehicle, in the interior or in a separate control cabinet.
The measurement unit features a flexible design that allows you to connect different GNSS and LPR®-2D antennas depending on the application. In addition to offering precise position detection, with the addition of two antennas this system can accurately determine the orientation of the vehicle even at slow speeds or when idling.
Position detection is carried out using state-of-the-art (D-)GNSS and LPR®-2D technologies. The GNSS technology utilizes the GPS and Glonass satellites to provide a high degree of reliability and accuracy.
The "D" in D-GNSS stands for differential, which relates to a process for improving the reliability of the positioning system by using a GPS correction signal from a Symeo reference station installed at a fixed location on the grounds. Using the correction data, the system compensates for potential atmospheric interference that can occur with satellite signals.
Unlike with GNSS, LPR®-2D radar technology does not require line-of-sight satellite connectivity. Instead, the vehicle position is detected by measuring the distance between LPR®-2D transponders that serve as local, stationary reference points. The transponders are suitable for indoor or outdoor installation and are typically mounted on existing light poles and building walls.
All devices are maintenance-free and can withstand harsh environments impacted by weather, dirt and vibrations.
The captured data can be made available via a standard communication interface or transmitted over an additional Ethernet/WiFi connection or GPRS/UMTS modem.
Symeo LPR® technology uses the international license-free ISM band. WiFi data networks can be operated in parallel at any time without the risk of interference.
