Trouble-free Supply – without risk of collision and accident
Supply chains in contemporary just-in-time logistics are closely timed. Trucks must deliver their cargo to the right ramp at exactly the right time. But despite the urgency, the safety of people and equipment must be the focus. Avoiding accidents at the loading dock, protecting employees, and maintaining supply chains can only be achieved with reliable distance measurement. Radar technology that isn’t affected by the weather is the perfect solution for this.
The requirements:
In a logistics center, a truck usually has to approach the loading ramp while reversing – in other words, without a direct line of sight. This has to be done as quickly as possible, but without causing a collision. It’s incredibly delicate process, as studies by the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz) show that incorrectly opened loading flaps can result in accidents. The complicated maneuvering often causes additional stress for the drivers – most of whom have been behind the wheel for several hours by the time they reach their destination.

Our solution:
Radar sensors from Symeo form the basis for docking systems that provide accurate feedback to drivers. The sensor measures the distance from the truck to the loading ramp and delivers the data in real time via the device interface to the control panel of the electronic docking aids, such as traffic light systems.
